Responses For Forklift Questions And Answers
- 1. How much does forklift training typically cost?
- Obviously costs will vary between different training providers. The cost of a 1 day course at the Training Hub, for individuals, is as little as $250. A 2 day course would be $350. This doesn’t include the licencing fees to Worksafe or the resource book which add another $119.00 (faqs)
- 2. What are the eligibility requirements for a 1-day course?
- To get a One Day Forklift Ticket trainees must first complete a prestudy pack in their own time. They must also provide evidence of 20 or more hours of operating a forklift. This can include, log books, references, photographs, videos, or anything else that backs up their claim. (faqs)
- 3. I’ve driven forklifts for years. Must I get a High-Risk License?
- Yes – the Australian Compensation Council of Australia intoduced new rulings in 2006 making it compulsory for all operators of LO and LF forklifts to have a High-Risk License. Furthermore, this license must be renewed every 5 years. (faqs)
- 4. What value is there in forklift refresher training?
- A forklift refresher course will bring your skills up-to-date for a High-Risk License assessment. Refresher training is cheaper and costs less than full forklift course. It is ideal for people who can prove they have driving experience. Ask if the training provider offers this service. (faqs)
- 5. How old do I have to be before I can get a forklift license?
- The law requires that you are at least 18 years of age before you can drive a forklift. Operating forklifts can be dangerous which is why they require a High-Risk License. But if you contact an RTO you may be able to start learning the theory before then. (faqs)
- 6. Where can I get answers to forklift assessment questions?
- Similar answers will be provided by the RTO when you do forklift training. The exact forklift licence test questions are kept confidential by law. They are designed to test your ability in real life circumstances. Knowing the answers beforehand makes it less real. (faqs)
- 7. I don’t like reading. Is there an easy way to study the theory?
- Study materials vary between training providers so shop around. Some good forklift training manuals can be found with lots of diagrams. Little reading is required because pictures with captions describe almost everything. Look for an RTO that uses manuals by Easy Guides Australia. (faqs)
- 8. I already have an LF License. Can I drive an LO forklift too?
- No. An LO forklift licence is for machinces where the operator wears a harness and retractable lanyard. The operator goes up and down with the carriage to recover or place items on or off of the racks. This is very different than a sit-in style forklift and so it has its own licencing requirements (faqs)
- 9. I can’t take time off work. Are courses available on weekends?
- Yes. If you ask around the different training providers you will find that some offer courses on weekends or after hours on week nights. Safelift Consultancy in Perth has options for individuals and businesses. (faqs)
